The Ktunaxa Ethnobotany Project is now in its third year, the primary objective is to document Ktunaxa knowledge in the area; this includes: medicinal, food, technology as well as traditional landscape management strategies. This traditional knowledge has been disappearing ever since arrival of smallpox and other deadly diseases and shortly after the European explorers.
