Cathy McIvor/Creator of "Collective Unravellings"

Being a 16 year resident of Howser on Duncan Lake/West Kootenays, I was inspired to collect stories to gather information about the Lardeau/Duncan River Valleys, and Kootenay Lake North." The Duncan Dam", the first Dam built under the Columbia River Treaty, created Duncan Lake, a non power producing reservoir. Annually it drops 100 vertical feet! At low pool it reveals the original Duncan River and Valley. A valley of stumps, old foundations, roadways, docks, water lines and artifacts from it past displaced inhabitants.
